The problem

Offices ordered kits by phone, and someone took each order down by hand. There was nowhere to see the kits side by side, and no way to pay without a call.

A desk phone off the hook beside a notepad with a hand-written kit order and a row of identical kit boxes nobody can compare.
What we built

A store that lives inside the site the offices already visit.

One plugin, cdl-shop, added to the lab's new WordPress site. It shows the kits and runs the cart. Stripe takes the payment on its own page.

How it fits together. The store hands the buyer to Stripe at the moment of payment and only acts on an order Stripe confirms as paid.
  1. A ZIP popup on the first visit

The first time an office arrives, it is asked for its location or ZIP and shown a delivery estimate. It does not ask again.

  2. A five-kit catalog

Each kit with its code and picture, side by side.

  3. A cart

Kits and quantities, kept until checkout.

  4. Stripe's hosted checkout

The buyer pays on Stripe's own page. Card numbers are typed there and never pass through WordPress.

  5. Paid orders only

An order counts once Stripe confirms the payment. An abandoned checkout creates nothing.

  6. One order email

Each paid order sends exactly one email to the seller with what was bought and where it goes.

  7. An optional text alert

If the seller wants a text as well, the order can be passed to Go High Level, Zapier or Make to send one.

Decisions

Who holds what.

The simplest store is the one that holds the least. These were the choices.

How it will run

Tested without money. Switched on with it.

A checkout screen in a sandbox tray with a test card, and a big switch beside it still set to

The whole flow, from first visit to order email, was tested end to end against a local stand-in for Stripe, so no real card was charged while it was built.

Checkout stays off until the seller's own Stripe account is connected and a few last details, like shipping and tax, are settled. Then the plugin goes live with the lab's new site. Nothing about the store has been measured with real buyers yet, so there are no results on this page.

What we'd reuse

For a business with a handful of products and a site already running.

Not every business needs a store platform. A bakery selling three gift boxes, a repair shop selling a care kit, a trainer selling session packs, a wholesaler letting regulars reorder: the same plugin shape fits each.
